The Green Life, about an African Eco-Village http://www.timeslive.co.za/lifestyle/article209075.ece

  1. (1)Step out your front door and get to know your neighbors.

  2. (2)Once you know your neighbors, create a schedule for carpooling, “bikepooling” or walking to commonly shared trips.

  3. (3)Knock down your back yard fences and create a common garden or put a garden on your lawn and start eating locally.

  4. (4)Shop for your other veggies locally at a farmers market or Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm.

  5. (5)Reach Within Daily. Start with 10 minutes of quiet alone time, breathe deeply, let go of thoughts, feel good, & smile.

  6. (6)Start a community event such as a weekly potluck .

  7. (7)Get rid of stuff!  Simplify!  Share things like lawn mowers or tools with your neighbors &  acquire few needs.

  8. (8)Get on your bike as much as possible and take notice of how much easier it is to say hello to people.

  9. (9)Take public transportation as much as possible and notice how many nice people are using it.

  10. (10) Redefine Progress...decide how you define success for you, your family, your community, your world.
